Equipment Safety & Participant Rules

Safety Comes First

At Carnivals at Heart, we want everyone to have a fun and safe experience. All equipment must be used responsibly and all posted, written and verbal operating instructions must be followed at all times.

The Rentee is responsible for ensuring that participants and supervisors follow all applicable safety rules while the equipment is in their care.

Failure to follow safety instructions may result in the immediate shutdown of the equipment.

General Safety Rules

1. Adult Supervision
All inflatables, games and equipment must be supervised at all times by a responsible and competent adult who understands the operating and safety rules for the equipment.

2. Safe Behaviour Only
No flips, roughhousing, pushing, wrestling, reckless behaviour or other activities that could cause injury or damage are permitted on or around the equipment.

3. No Climbing on Equipment Structures
Participants must not climb on the outside walls, netting, supports or structures of any inflatable or other equipment. Participants must never intentionally attempt to rock, move or tip equipment.

4. Remove Loose or Potentially Dangerous Items
Shoes, glasses, hats, jewelry, necklaces, toys, sharp objects and other items that could cause injury or damage must be removed before entering an inflatable or participating on equipment where these items are prohibited.

5. Keep the Equipment Area Clear
BBQs, fire pits, open flames, heaters and other potentially dangerous or flammable items must be kept a safe distance from the equipment.

Electrical cords, generators and other power equipment must be positioned and protected according to Carnivals at Heart’s setup instructions.

6. Inflatable Entrances & Exits
Inflatable entrance and exit areas must remain clear at all times. Participants must enter and exit according to the instructions provided for the specific unit.

Sitting, playing or congregating on inflatable entrance or exit steps is not permitted.

7. Participants Must Be Grouped Appropriately
Participants should be grouped according to size, age and ability when appropriate to reduce the risk of collisions and injuries.

The supervising adult or Carnivals at Heart operator may limit the number or combination of participants using equipment at one time.

8. Safety Equipment Must Be Worn
Where protective equipment is supplied, participants must wear and properly use all required safety equipment.

This applies to attractions such as jousting, bungee runs, sumo suits and other equipment requiring protective gear.

9. Minors
Minors must have the required permission of a parent or legal guardian before participating.

Where a waiver is required, it must be completed by the appropriate parent or legal guardian for participants under the applicable age.

10. Higher-Risk Interactive Attractions
Certain interactive attractions require additional operating rules, supervision, protective equipment and/or participant waivers.

All instructions provided by Carnivals at Heart for these attractions must be followed.

Weather Safety

11. Wind, Rain, Lightning & Severe Weather

Weather conditions must be monitored throughout the event.

Equipment must be shut down whenever weather conditions exceed the manufacturer’s operating limits or when directed by a Carnivals at Heart representative.

Inflatables and applicable outdoor equipment must be immediately evacuated and shut down during excessive winds, unsafe rain conditions, lightning or other severe weather.

Never continue operating equipment when Carnivals at Heart has instructed that it be shut down for safety reasons.

Participant Health & Safety

12. Know Your Limits

Participants are responsible for determining whether they can safely participate.

Participants should not use an attraction if they are pregnant or have a medical condition, injury or physical limitation that could make participation unsafe, including certain neck, back, heart or mobility conditions.

Participants must follow all posted restrictions and instructions specific to each attraction.

When in doubt, don’t participate. Please speak with the equipment operator or event supervisor before using the attraction.

Protecting Our Guests & Equipment

The Rentee is responsible for the proper supervision and reasonable care of rental equipment while it is in their possession.

Damage resulting from misuse, abuse, unauthorized movement, failure to supervise or failure to follow operating instructions may be charged to the Rentee in accordance with the rental agreement.

If something doesn’t look or feel right, stop using the equipment and contact Carnivals at Heart immediately.
